The greatest fight ever fought - MUHAMMAD ALI'S CONDOLENCES SOMBER

When asked for his thoughts to Joe Frazier’s death, former heavyweight champ and
longtime opponent who pledged nothing less than vengeance and happened to be apart
of one of the most historic fights  , Muhammad Ali wrote in a statement: “The world has
lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration. My
sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones.” Joe demised on the night of Monday,
the 7th of November and the cause of his death was cancer. Joe was 67 years of age.

Ali’s words, full of admiration and respect were laced with a bit of a deep awareness  and
sympathy  for the late Frazier. The statement comes some 40 years after his verbal
assault of Frazier telling the press that he was not worthy of being called a great fighter
also —calling him an “Uncle Tom,” “white people’s champion,” “ignorant,” and a
“gorilla,” which heightened the stakes and the rivalry between the two foes and virtually
caused a wildfire in media attention to both fighters.

And while Ali’s words came in the heat of competetion, at the time, they were more
damaging than any single punch that Frazier ever endured.  Frazier no matter how
steadfast he stood in the ring taking blows was not able to handle this ridicule and all of
it really affected his confidence as a public figure after all he was a simple man- a very
humble person and this incident with Muhammad The Boxing Legend would be the stain
on a legacy he built in a selfmade man manner. A boxer from Philadelphia, Joe never got
the appreciation and fame he should have. Regarded as the fiercest competitors in the
game of sports, Joe spent most of his life in the boxing arena, playing as 2nd fiddle to
Muhammad Ali .There was a lot of bad blood between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier for
more than four decades.
Unable to REWRITE history, Muhammad Ali, 69, himself is ill and was greatly saddened
by the news of Frazier’s death. He said that the news is not an easy one to accept. He
also called Frazier a fighter and a champ, IF ONLY FRAZIER WERE HERE TO HERE
THOSE WORDS , WHAT A GREAT DIFFRENCE IT WOULD HAVE MADE ON THE
FIGHTER'S MEMORIES OF A SPORT HE DIED ,LOVING BEING APART OF IT ALL with
"no regrets' .
