FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) – Video surveillance and radio calls obtained by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reveal new details in the shooting death of Michael Brown. The police dispatch radio calls show that the interaction that ended in Brown’s death happened over about 90 seconds.
Records obtained under Missouri’s Sunshine Law include radio dispatch recordings and some surveillance video of officer Darren Wilson leaving and returning to the Ferguson police station after the fatal shooting of Michael Brown on August 9th, 2014. Officer Wilson left the station about two hours after the shooting to go to the hospital. He is seen in surveillance video wearing a t-shirt. He returned to the station two and a half hours later.
He was working Saturday August 9th not far from the Canfield-Green apartments. He was on a sick baby call when the Ferguson police dispatcher reported a, “Stealing in progress” at the Ferguson Market on West Florissant.
According to the Post-Dispatch Officer Wilson told authorities after a struggle with Brown at the car he called, “Shots fired..send all cars” on his radio. But, during the struggle his radio had been jarred and the channel changed. The newspaper was unable to locate any broadcast of such a call, which may mean it was never broadcast.
St. Louis is on edge. The grand jury is hearing evidence to determine if Officer Wilson should be indicted in the killing. A decision could come any day now. Protesters have threatened to shut down parts of St. Louis if Wilson is not indicted.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has obtained Officer Wilson’s radio calls from the scene of the shooting also, the call w as s breif .
