"Rock of Ages" star Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes are divorcing after five years of marriage, Fox News Channel confirms.

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," Holmes' attorney Jonathan Wolfe said. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest." 

A rep for Cruise issued a statement saying that Holmes filed the divorce papers.

"Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out," Amanda Lundberg said.

The news of the divorce was first reported by People magazine.

The couple has a 6-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise.

Cruise, 49, and Holmes, 33, were married at an Italian castle in the fall of 2006 after a whirlwind romance that garnered major headlines for both stars. 

Cruise was widely mocked and panned for an appearance on the "Oprah Winfrey Show," where he jumped on a couch while emphatically declaring his love for the former "Dawson's Creek" actress in 2005.

"I can't be cool. I can't be laid-back," Cruise told Winfrey at the time. "Something happened and I want to celebrate it."

The couple's relationship continued to be a major source of public fascination over the next few years. After dating for just a few months, Cruise reportedly proposed to Holmes on top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Holmes often gushed about her husband, saying she dreamed of marrying him since she was a young girl.

But the seemingly fairytale romance was also plagued by reports that their marriage was a sham. Holmes often appeared on tabloid covers being portrayed as a victim or prisoner of the relationship. Holmes' conversion from Catholicism to Scientology also dominated headlines, as did young Suri's penchant for high heels and Starbucks.

This was Cruise’s third marriage. He was previously married to Nicole Kidman, with whom he has two children, and Mimi Rogers.  It was the first marriage for Holmes.

Allen Iverson's estranged wife is frightened of her husband -- claiming the NBA legend has been harassing her and her family ... and now, she wants a restraining order.

Tawanna Iverson just filed legal docs in the couple's bitter divorce battle -- claiming Allen "has engaged in increasingly contemptuous, threatening, and disturbing behavior" over the last few months ... and she's afraid things will get worse.

Tawanna is asking for a judge to issue a protective order stat. It's unclear whether she wants Iverson to stay away physically, or just stop harassing her.

I just posted a couple of months ago on how Jada and Will Smith were so in love and a power couple, now the talks and rumors of divorce are for certain , WOW.

Jada pinkett if we must start with her, even though she is not the biggest star in this equation was a actress on Different world , when Will Smith was trying to break into acting - Jada had already made it . Jada probably used to see Will and think - hmm he is cute and talented , but just not my type .

I wonder why in a the interviews they all did together - heck even separate , they would aways say things like " our sex life is on fire - yeah baby " and you gotta admit that they made us envy there chemistry and whatever else that they shared . It seems there were smitten over each other . Enter the rumors of swinging relationship tryst - Jada having a past and Will having rumors swirl about homosexuality. It started to make every one out the outside looking in wonder if their fairytale relationship was just a sham .

After all they shared a the same interest in the arts - acting and music and the same philosophy on marriage - TILL DEATH DUE US PART - but that was not enough to hold the dynamic duo together . I will not bring the kids into this breakdown even though it played a factor into there crumbling marriage. Could you imagine trying to manage a family of superstars , seems fun - but Being an industry insider - one knows better. I have heard alot of statements of people saying if WILL and JADA can't make it who can . Money does not always make everything better . It cause's more problems . Maybe Will thought he was ready for an around the way type woman and maybe Jada thought she could handle Her fresh prince of Bel-air - but in the end maybe they should have should have gotten to know each other better instead of concentrating on the physical - threesomes and affairs don't offer any outlet for love to grow , it plays on insecurity and jealousy enters the picture. Take a note from their relationship ,..hopefully they will work it out - but its not looking good .

The Associated Press........Mel Gibson is not only single, but $425 million poorer, thanks to a divorce settlement finalized Friday between the actor and his wife of 31 years, Robyn Denise Moore.

The judgment, finalized by a judge in Los Angeles, keeps virtually all details of the settlement secret. People magazine reports that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement, meaning his ex-wife would be entitled to half of everything Gibson earned during their marriage.

The Oscar-winner’s fortune has been estimated to be as high as $850 million, the magazine said, citing a 2006 report in the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Throughout the 31-year marriage, which produced seven children, Gibson directed, invested and starred in movies such as “The Passion of the Christ,” which grossed more than $600 million alone. He also invested heavily in real estate, including an island in Fiji he bought for $15 million in 2005.

People also reports that Moore, a former dental nurse, is entitled to half of any film residuals Gibson receives for the rest of his life.

Kobe Bryant's wife files for divorce and guess what - there is no prenup !!!! Oh snap!

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Kobe Bryant's wife, Vanessa, filed for divorce on Friday from the Los Angeles Lakers star, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Vanessa Bryant filed papers in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana.

A representative for the couple released a statement saying, "The Bryants have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a Judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012."

The couple have been married for 10 1/2 years and have two daughters, ages 8 and 5.

In the statement, the Bryants "ask that in the interest of our young children and in light of the upcoming holiday season the public respect our privacy during this difficult time."

Put the rumors to rest. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are not getting a divorce. The Hollywood power couple released a statement denying the erroneous reports.



The Internet was buzzing after In Touch Weekly cited an unnamed source who claimed that the Smiths had separated after 13 years of marriage. A rep for the couple released a statement shutting down the rumors.

“Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false,” the couple said in a joint statement. “We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”

Will’s son Trey even took to Twitter to address the gossip. “Did #WillandJada split? No they did NOT split! False information … its not true RETWEET!!!” he wrote. “Everyone can think what they want … even if its not true.”

A rep for Jada Pinkett Smith also responded to reports that Jada was having an affair with her “HawthoRNe” co-star Marc Anthony. “All the rumors regarding Marc Anthony and Jada are false,” publicist Karynne Tencer told PEOPLE, while Anthony’s rep added,

“We unequivocally deny this. Enough is enough. There are families involved, children involved, friendships involved. This is NOT true.”

Will and Jada have two children together, 13-year-old Jaden and 10-year-old Willow.
